Beating the jet lag

After a work trip to China for nearly two and half week, it was back to the UK and little more than 24hrs after getting back into the UK it was back to the ‘normality’ of another Witney MC Wednesday evening grass autotest.

It was a very warm evening as it was the tail end of a British summer heatwave, so being in a black rally car was all rather hot.

The first test all went ok, and the surface was cleaning up quickly getting down to a scrubbed and dusty earth surface with a lot of grip.

At this point I was tying with a young karting lad, expanding his skills into grass autotests.

Over the next two tests, the times were all very close and going into the last test I had a relatively slender lead over the other drivers.

The last test was the most open and flowing, and had effectively a long open loop around the edge of the field we use. This allowed me to open up the ZR and on the last run with some braver pills taken a flat out run, I was able to take 1.7 seconds out of the other drivers.

In the end the win was taken with a 3 second lead over four tests (best time to count).
